Thyroid Tests Results for 3 year old son?

Here are his initial test results - not sure what they mean?

TSH = 4.99        (standard range is 0.4 - 4.00 uIU/mL)
TPO AB = <3.0  (standard range is < 5.6 IU/mL)

Thanks for any info!

My daughter is 8 and has no gland. Please find a doctor that will look at the freet3 level. His TSH is too high. What med is he on? Is it synthetic t4? Don't buy into the excuse that it converts to t3 in the body automatically and efficiently, and that it doesn't need to be monitored. It does!!!  Start reading and educating yourself if you haven't already. Does he have a gland and is he having any hypo symptoms?

His TSH is high, and your lab is using an outdated reference range.  The new reference range (changed somewhere around 6 yrs ago) is 0.3 - 3.0...... and his FT4 is in the low end of "normal", indicating that he has hypothyroidism .  Did they not do a Free T3?  That's the actual thyroid hormone that's available for the body to use.  A lot of doctors don't think it's necessary to run that, but it certainly is.......Would also be good to get an ultra sound.

Did the doctor suggest starting him on meds?  What symptoms does he have?
