muscle stiffness

I was recently put on synthriod 88mcg and cytomel 10mcg- after being on thyrolar 1.25 grain. Now the muscles in my back have stiffened up and are really tight. I have never had anything like this before- I did not injure my back, I just woke up like this 3 weeks ago. Could this be a side effect of the T3? Has anyone heard of this before?

well everyone is different. So you might of felt good at that TSH.

Free T3 is very misleading... when too high it causes palps and insominia - when too low - guess what??

It causes palps and insominia too.

This is a very delicate level of hormone and must be watched very close. More so than TSH.  I can only tell you my situation and where my sweet spot is. My TSH ( which I don't watch, neither does my doctor) is at a 0.004

My free T3 is about a 5.1 I think - last lab which is just a nudge over the highest point of the ranges.

Free T4 is mid point - maybe just a bit lower. I found the most success for me was to closely watch the FT3 and where it goes... track it and see where my sweet spot is and try as hard as I can to keep it right there.

my labs were  TSH- .3          range.3-5.1
                      free t3- 3.2            2.3- 4.2
                      free t4- 1.12          .73-1.95
I was having palpatations and insomnia too. That is why I was thinking the dose  was too high. I have no thyriod- I had a tiny cancer, but lots of big nodules. my TSH before surgery was 1.2. I thought that is what is normal for me.

No most likely it means it not the right level for you yet. Call your doctor you may need an increase.

10mcgs is the starting dose - most need a bit more.
