rash caused by bugs or thyroid

I had RAI over 8 weeks ago. I stayed in a hotel for three days. Two weeks after I got home, I developed an itchy rash. It started out looking like mosquito bites but they still itch over a month and a half later. And the rash is getting smaller in size but more clustered, like near my armpit are ten very itchy bumps. They are only on my lower legs, back of knees and elbows, stomach, back, groin, and shoulders -- NOT on hands, face, feet, upper legs, or most of arms. I thought maybe bed bugs or chiggers so I went into clean everything mode including getting new bed and bedding and steam cleaning and washing like a mad woman.

I'm still itchy. Is this thyroid or autoimmune related or is it bugs? Driving me nuts and also making me a germaphobe. My endo said it was bug bites but he also said RAI has cured me of Graves Disease.

Update...After being totally stressed out and treated for scabies and cleaning out what I thought was a contaminated environment that strangely only affected me, I have guttate psoriasis. That was the pin ***** itchy bumps in patches all over. So relieved it's not bugs. The stress and keeping my skin dry with anti bug stuff was making psoriasis worse.

Get yr FT3 levels sorted...you may be a fraction T3 toxycosis.
If you arent, then use a mozzie bite spray....or ask for a cortizone cream (very weak strength).
That stopped the itching for me.

Greetings from Hong Kong

Your rash sounds like something we experience here a lot.  Not sure where you stayed in a hotel.  We experience very high levels of humidity here  as much as 98% humidity etc - during these times it is not wise to dry clothes in the bathroom or outside as little mites lay their eggs on your clothes even if left in the sun and these cause the type of rash you mention.  We often put our clother into a dryer for a few minutes before wearing it in the wet season to protect us from getting the rash.

What do we do - use lavender or Tea Tree oil on the itchy parts and wash the area as often as possible - keep dry as when damp and sweaty it ithces even more.  They usually take about a week to clear.

Best wishes

There is no cure for Graves Disease....only a cure for Hyperthyroidism and RAI tends to kill off the offending organ that the Graves antibodies like to attack...the thyroid.
The antibodies usually go into remission but can flare up if stressed or sick. Keep that in mind.
Even if they do flare up.....there are no way as severe as they were prior to RAI.
The pimples are not bites .....usually its the hormone levels with a high FT3.
