thryoid uptake scan

Are you supposed to fast before the thyroid uptake scan?  I swear my endo said no, but the lab said no food or liquids 12 hours before.   I can't see what difference it would make, if they say you can eat right after they give you the pill.... and then they do the first image four hours later.   Also, I have only been on Armour 15 mg for a couple of weeks, and my endo wasn't clear on not taking it.   So I am confused.

I did have to fast before the pill and could drink right away but had to wait an hour before I could eat any food.  There are certain meds they will ask you about before you take the pill.  Just make sure the day before you go that you are clear.

Go with what the nuclear medicine department at the hospital says (after all they are the ones who will send you home and make you come back later if you don't do it their way).  Call the nuke med department and ask them about the Armour.  For my RAI treatment dose I had to be off meds for weeks; for the scan doses (which are similar to uptake scans) I didn't have to be off anything other than the day of the procedure.
