Hi

I'm very scared--Besides the onging problem I've been having (hit in head 2 mos ago, dizziness, lack of ffeling etc) Earlier today, I began seeing flashes of light, almost like lightning. That's still happening. As I was typing earlier, my hand suddenly (without my control) snapped shut and jerked and I had a whole range of sensations and I felt very odd--my heart began pumping erractically (not fast, very unrhythmic) and so as it was happening I took a toprol (lowers BP and HR)...I feel very odd; my head feels tingly and likes it on fire on top just over the forehead; my vision is shadowy in some ways and my hands feel weak. Blood pressure after taking toprol was 128/90, pupils are normal, heartrate is now steady but I still feel odd. Also, I've been noting problems with my jaw associated with my head--I sometimes move my jaw further to the left or right than I should and it causes odd feelings in my head just a little past my temples and sometimes when I move my jaw weird, I get fasiculations in that area of the head. The skull itself feels like it pops up and down.
I'm really afraid. My parents, who are longtime nurses, dont think this anything serious. But I'm scared. I dont wanna die.

stinging sensation-anyone else?
I was diagnosed with a Chiari 1 approx 6 months ago. I had an awful headache like none other and since that day everything changed. After that headache, I woke up kind of feeling off balance and i felt anxiety for the first time. Of course my Dr said that it was stress and I needed to rest. Istarted to get intermittent headaches(some lasted minutes and others longer). The headaches are gone along with the nausea. Now I'm left with aching hands and feet, muscle twitches everywhere, muscle spasms(not too often), and worse of all this prickly sensation all over.

I've had an MRI that showed no lesions just a couple slightly protruding discs and the chiari. My doc isn't convinced the chiari is causing all of this. I'm taking 100mg of neurotin 3x daily and it's not working. I've also had a simple blood test for Lyme(neg), and he said my thyroid levels were normal too.

Any help is very appreciated:)

Thank you!

Hi
Thanks for the update!
I can understand what you are saying. However subdural hematomas are of two types acute and chronic. In a chronic subdural collection, the problem is not discovered immediately as blood leaks from the veins slowly over time. The initial bleed is too small to give symptoms. The symptoms of chronic subdural hematoma begin several weeks after the initial bleeding. Hence with a history of vision problems, strange feeling in head and a seizure like activity, this should be looked into.
I cannot comment for sure without examining you. What I am stressing upon is the need to consult a neurologist as you have persisting symptoms. It could also be an aneurysm or a contusion or maybe something else. What is important is that you have symptoms which cannot be ignored.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I'm still feeling a bit crappy, but a lot better--still pressure and burning in head, specifically back of head. I notice that when I get these symptoms that I've been having for 2 mos they're worse when I'm laying down--not sure if that can significant

And I've been having these symptoms Feb 3rd (and I got a non-contrast MRI on Feb 6th which came back negative) and the jolt to the head I received was at the end of Jan--If it was a subdural hematoma or any other type of brain infarct, would I have these symptoms for nearly 2 months without any larger complications? I mean--can subdural hematomas or subarachnoid hemmerages happen for 2 months before finally killing the victim? You figure I got the jolt of the head 2 months ago and have been feeling these symptoms (though progressively getting more unpleasent) for a month and 24 days now

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
I would suggest you get a CT scan or MRI of the brain. There could be a subdural hematoma. Any neurological symptom, headache etc after a head injury must be investigated ASAP. Is there someone you can talk to and who can take you to the ER?
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
