Can sand fly bites come back?

I was badly bites by sand flies in Malaysia in August last year.  I am again covered in bites and thought it was fleas but no one else in the house has any bits at all.  The house has been de-infested and I still have bites.  Can the sand flies be recurring?  The bites seem to be in the exact same positions as the ones in the summer from what I can remember and they are itchy in the same way that the sand fly bites were.  I'd be grateful for any thoughts from people who live in tropical climes.  Thanks.

No, I don't think so.
Your issue may have to do with a parasitic infection, where the sand flies were the carrier.
It is likely the parasitic infection has been reactivated.
In way if it is what I suspect-->leichmaniasis,
consider yourself lucky that your immune system did not allow this to progress to a serious infection with many complications.
So my suggestion is to rule this out asap, before any further unwanted effects take place.
A comprehensive parasite cleanse, with emphasis on proper nutrition (I have done an anti-candida protocol, with no sugars, no grains, no alcohol, lots of organic coconut oil
probiotics of high quality, etc. which doubles as an anti-parasitic diet) would certainly help you.
I have lived in SE Asia in the past-I spent time in Penang.
George Town was my favorite city!
I escaped mosquito and sand fly bites, as I always carried a net to put over my bed and used essential oils to keep insects away from my body, lol!
You have not experienced anything serious, unless you have been through the jungles of Sumatra.
Some of the insects there are the size of mice, yikes!
Toward the end of our trek there, I was happy to hook up with a red cross mission on Jeeps, delivering drugs there.
I just had to help a bit and put up with a monkey on my back
while riding on the Jeep.
Best wishes,
Niko
