Can sandflies bites re-apear?

I need some advice. I was out travelling in Belize from 16th of Feb. to 16th of March. I got bitten on the whole legs extremely badly by sandflies and mosquitos (if you need a picture I can post it). I cured it somehow, but it kind-a got better after coming home, when I was in a more dry place (Denmark).
Now, two big rashes re-apeared, they itched like hell for one day and now they became scars. I am just considering I should maybe do something about it? I mean, I know this sand flies can leave eggs, but I didn't find anywhere, if they can reapear after a month being at home? Is there a chance of having worms or something?
It doesn't itch now at all - but it is just a scar at the back of my leg (if you need I can take a picture and post it..).
I hope there will be some answers :)

Thank you very much!

I'm a nurse so if you take a picture I may be able to at least tell you what it looks like. Should definetly see a doctor.

HI!
I have been at the normal doctor and she gave me Fucicort creme (do you know it?). She was not really interested to look at it or do much, she just said it is usual to have some bacteria from travelling around, so she said I should use the creme for one week and than see if the rashes go away.
I am just sceptical about this creme - especially because my doctor (I have to change her anyway) ***** and she didn't even really look at it... I don't know.. Would love to have more answers from you or comments...
Thank you and a nice greeting from Denmark..

Ana

Hi and thank you for your answer again.

For now it is just the left leg that has rashes - in the back (as on the picture with two rashers) and in front with some small ones, but very small...
So you say I should go to the doctor?

Thank you sooo much for your help,

take care.

Ana

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
Yes, this does look like cutaneous leishmaniasis. The only negative against it is multiple lesions, unless you had extensive and multiple bites. Multiple lesions of this type go more in favor of some urticaria or rash. Try and look back and see where you have been when you got the rash first. Maybe you will be able to identify the rash.
Hope this helps. Take care!

So, the bites can ever recur after two months of not having them?
Wooow.
I will upload a picture into my gallery - can you check it out?

Thank you for your help!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
As you put it, yes, sandflies bites can recur. If you are bitten, serious lesions can develop in only a few days. The parasite transmitted by the fly bite remains under the original scab and causes cutaneous leshmaniasis later on. You will have to apply local antibiotic cream and keep the ulcer area clean. If still the ulcer area persists consult a doctor. Then the species of leishmania causing this would need to be detected by molecular techniques (PCR) prior to starting treatment.
Hope this helps. Take care!
