Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If your husband did not have blindness literally, but suffered from episodes of blackouts then those could be due to postural hypotension (falling with change of position), internal ear problems, cervical spondylitis, anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. However, this could also be an episode of transient ischemic attack wherein the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off. The episodes last for a maximum of 24 hours and then resolve or a new symptom starts. Otherwise it could be due to ophthalmic nerve compression by a tumor or an aneurysm or a cyst. Please consult a neurologist. He will need to undergo a MRI of the brain. As Caregiver said, this evaluation should have been done yesterday—means high priority, ASAP.
Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
really i have that same issue i start to loose my fision an its like a window really like a black circle everything blacks out from the outside in an sometimes i do pass out. i feel real tired an weak at times then i went to a doctor an they said its from my iron being to low im anemic.i have to take iron pills on a daily basis. but ever since i started taking them i havent had but one or two episodes like that. just make sure when he does start feeling like that he has something to put in his stomache an sit down. but the best thing i could say for him is have that checked out. its not a problem if he remembers to take his iron everyday try eating green veggies...Good luck!
He needs to be neurologically evaluated to include an MRI and MRA, as of yesterday.
There are many possible reasons for the problem. It is above my pay grade to comment.
This is a potentially life-threatening presentation. You know, as in the graveyard, funeral services, a tombstone, maggots in the nostrils, the eulogy, giving away his possessions. As compared to another scenario where he lives happily ever after.
Two incidents are two incidents too many. Fortunately, to date there have been no serious complications.
He needs to have an IMMEDIATE evaluation. Not an appointment a week from now.
