One thing I would recommend if he drinks diet sodas, is to stop immediately.  It has been found to cause M.S. (lesions on the brain and brain stem).
Chewing gum can also cause this as almost all chewing gum now contains Aspartame.
Please go online and read about Aspartame poisoning.

     Wishing you the best

Examination requested:MRI Brain
clinical indication :Severe headache.
Examination Performed :Multiplanar T1 , T2, Flair, DWI and post contrast T1

Report Findings :There are multiple high signal foci in the subcortical  white matter mainly in the frontal and parietal lobes. measuring between 1 and 3mm. The foci are best seen on flair sequence and display no evidence of enhancement. The rest of the brain parenchyma is within normal limits. ventricles and basal cisterns are clear. normal midline structures. the posterior fossa contents and brainstem are unremarkable.
conclusion: Multiple subcortical small non enhancing white mater foci that suggests changes due to migrain. however , other entities  such as vasculitis can have similar appearance on MRI . Clinical correlation is adviced.

You did not give us enough information... it could be a fungus (Tinea Versicolor) or Vitiligo or any number of things.   We need a better description of the white spots.  Are they sore?  Do they itch?  Do they burn?  Do they hurt?

Please give us more information - thank you.
