Neck discomfort.

Two months ago I had one lymph node removed, the one underneath my jaw on the left side to be checked for lymphoma. My only symptom was this one lymph node, very very very swollen, and it was pretty painful. The biopsy came back cancer free. The discomfort in my neck never went away, and has now spread to my right lymph node. I can't really tell if it is swollen, because I have nothing to compare it to. The discomfort comes and goes but in sharp spurts. Pre-surgery the only thing that showed in the CT scan was the swollen lymph node which was then promptly removed. What could this be!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Neck discomfort can be due to wrong posture, neck strain, cervical spondylosis, nerve entrapment due to canal stenosis etc. If at all there are swollen lymph nodes (can you feel them?) then there could be dental caries or internal ear infection that is causing them. I would suggest an appointment with your dentist and ENT if there are lymphnodes persisting. If it is just neck discomfort then a chiro-practitioner can help you. Maybe you can also consult a neurologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck since my childhood.  They get larger when I have infection/illness.  The last few months I have added swollen lymph nodes along my collar bone mainly in the left should, but there is some on the right.  Do I need to push harder to have the lymph nodes test.  Not thinking cancer, but it is hopeful that once they biopsy the nodes, they can get a understanding of why.

I am interested in what others say to you on what you have.  It just might be what i need to hear for me.

Thanks for posting!
