Shaking / convulsing after needles..?

Hi,
I had two terrible episodes in the last year and it has left me terrified to have blood taken. First i got blood taken when i was ill about 9 months ago, when it was happening i felt very faint and dizzy and when it was over my whole body started to shake uncontrollably, i couldn't stop trembling i felt like my body just took over and i couldn't do anything about it. The second time i had to get acupuncture, well, not fully, the chinese doctor said he would place two needles in me to see if i was ok with it. He put them in and within 5 mins i had him pull them out because my body was shaking all over, i couldn't breath properly and couldn't sit still i just sat up on the bed and my whole body was convulsing and shaking so much, i got so scared i even considered calling 911. Can anyone please help me and tell me what is happening to me when a needle in just put in my skin, why do i have this terrifying reaction?

Sounds like you are very scared of needles. You are having a panic reaction to being stuck by them. Anxiety attacks will present themselves with those symptoms.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You have a terrible fear for needles or needle phobia called Trypanophobia. Cognitive behavior therapy and systemic desensitization towards the object you fear will have to be carried out by a psychotherapist for curing this. Take care!
