I've been having tan-colored stool for about a month. On one occasion about a week ago it was totally grey. I read that this can indicate a serious problem with gallbladder or liver functioning so I went to the ER the next day.
They ran two blood tests, one general, one liver-specific. The doctor said my results were "stone-cold normal." They also took a sample of urine and stool (which had regained its tannish color.) And they sent me home, basically telling me I had nothing to worry about.
But the tan color is persisting, (it hasn't been grey again), and the texture is still soft. Usually it's been holding together but today it was like wet sand.
So while my blood tests didn't raise any alarms, I've been having these unusual stools for about a month. Does anything come to mind which might cause these symptoms without leaving much of a trace? Would grey stool like that just happen for no reason? I appreciate any advice.
