muscle atropy of upper right arm?

I have an approximate 1x1 1/2" indented area on my upper right arm which is pink in color (see attached photo). This area just appeared one day in mid-May; I did not have an injury or overuse my arm (I'm not a swimmer or a tennis player). At that time I experienced only a very dull ache occasionally. An x-ray did not reveal any abnormality. In July I started having mild pain in my shoulder, upper arm, lower arm, and thumb whenever I used my arm. When my arm is at rest I have a dull pain in my upper arm. This week I started occasionally having a stinging or burning sensation in my upper arm near the elbow. On Aug 28 I had an MRI; results showed that I had mild arthritis. No explanation was given regarding this strange indented area. I'm relieved that the pain is arthritis, because that seems appropriate since I'm 64 years old.  However, why do all of a sudden I have arthritis--just a coincidence? No relation to the strange indented area? I don't have any medical problems, do not take any medications, and am in good health. Should I seek a second opinion? Should I be worried about the indented area? And, what is it? Will it go away or is there permanent damage?

I so appreciate your response. I am going to get a second opinion. I didn't know what kind of doctor to see, so thanks for that advise. If it was a spider bite would the indented area last for months (it first appeared in May). Wouldn't I know that was being bitten, even though it probably happened during the night?

Were you bitten by a brown spider?  A recluse will cause an indented area with its bite.
But, you don't say there was any atrophy of the skin  on the outside.
It is truly baffling - I'm wondering why the doctors didn't address the indentation.  Someone should have said something about the atrophy of the muscle.
I think you should see a rheumatologist or a neurologist to determine the cause.  If you are at the beginning stages of a disease such as Muscular Dystrophy they should be able to diagnose you.
I am so sorry that this is happening to you.  I hope sincerely that you are able to "get to the bottom of it."
      Wishing you the best
