Hi,

I seriously need explanation here, someone that I loved the most passed away only because doing ESWL where everyone said that this is a very low risk treatment.

Can someone please tell me whether ESWL can be done consecutively in 2 days?

Does more chance of renal failure can also be triggered by doing ESWL twice in two days?

Hello,

Renal failure is a rare complication after ESWL although several studies have shown temporary acute functional and morphologic changes immediately after treatment of ESWL. Caution is needed in elderly patients or patients with hypertension, diabetes and urinary infection.

Hello,
I am very sorry for your loss. ESWL can be done in two days consecutively but it can cause subcapsular and the retroperitoneal haematomas. One case was reported, in whom a life-threatening retro-peritoneal haematoma appeared when half an hour after ESWL, an intravenous anticoagulation was started due to an acute myocardial infarction. In another case, acute renal failure resulted after ESWL.
