Hi. My mother has to undergo TOT surgery as suggested by urologist. She is 60 years old. I wanted to know what are the complications of post TOT surgery? What is the recovery time?

Hi there!

The TOT procedure is used to treat stress urinary incontinence caused by urethral hypermobility and intrinsic sphincter deficiency. A few rare complications include bladder/ bowel injury, neuro-vascular injury etc. The recovery time may vary between a few days to a few weeks. I would suggest discussing the pros and cons and the expected prognosis in detail with the treating urologist.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
