Urethra Penis Scrotum Pain

Hi there-

About 2 months ago I started having pain in my genitals. A combination of a sharp, needle-like pain in the urethra opening, as well as a dull bruise-like pain in the lower part of my penis, but also in the scrotum and area between the scrotum and the anus. All pains only appear occasionaly, a few minutes or so, and then vanish for the rest of the day.
There are absolutely no secretions, no visible symptoms, except for a a couple of red bumps which showed a few days ago right after sex (protected) on my penis head and disapeared after an hour (!!!)
I went to 3 different doctors, and both diagnosed me with NGU. The first prescribed a single 1g dose of Azytromicina, the second 10 days of Doxycilin, and the third a combination of 3 days of Azytromacin followed by 3 days of cipro. Bombarded my body with these chemicals, refrained from having sex during the treatment, but unfortunately... nothing worked!!!  I was then sent to a lab to get both urine and urethra swab test for a bunch of STDs: Gardnerella vaginalis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma sp, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Candida sp and Chlamydia Trachomatis. I also got a blood test for HIV and syphillis. The results came out today: all negative!!!
I don´t get it.... WHAT´S WRONG WITH ME???
Please please let me know what to do, where to go... I´m going NUTS, this infection (or whatever it is) is totally ruining my sex life, besides the day-to-day psychological angst of not knowing what kinda of disease I got, and all the money I´m spending on tests and doctors (I have no health plan!!)
PS/ Concerning my sex life, yes, I did have a couple unprotected encounters in the few months before the pain started :( but from now on I do not even get close to a vagina without a condom on!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Riccardo

Hi Dr. Vanessa-

Thanks a bunch for your super-quick reply!!

I, too, immediately suspected prostatis when the first round of antibiotics didn´t work, and thought about a prostate culture but when I mentioned it to the doctor, he said that whatever bacteria is present in the prostate would necessarly show up in the the urethral swab test, and the urethra culture would be better, as is the part which is aching the most (the area between the scrotum and anus really only hurts when pressure is applied)

Do you agree, or is possible for a bacteria that didn´t show up on the urethra swab and urine tests to appear in a prostate secretion culture?

Aside from Prostatis, any other possible ideas on what it could be? what about a virus? a fungus? who are the suspects? would they have showed up on the culture?

What about these two red dots which appeared on my glans that one time, and disapeared a half hour later?? Isn´t that a flag for something?

PS/ One more thing: my girlfriend just got the results from her vaginal culture (even though she´s got no symptoms at all, the doctor insisted she gets one done)... once again, all negative!

Thanks A BUNCH for your help - I can´t tell you how good it feels to hear your opinion, I´ve been literrally sinking into a horrible depression because of this whole thing, out here (northeast brazil!) the local docs seem totally clueless, leaving me with the alienating feeling of having a strange incurable unamable STD!

Hi

I understand your concern. In the presence of significant sexual activity, this is likely to be sexually related. Aside from urethritis, this may be a case of prostatitis .You have mentioned that pain is also noted in the area between the penis and the anus. This area is usually affected in cases of prostatitis. A prostate secretion culture may be done to help ascertain if prostatic infection is also present. Prostate infections may require longer antibiotic therapy.

Refrain from sexual activity until this has completely resolved. Sex may aggravate the condition especially in cases of prostatitis.
