burning sensation inside the penis

I was treated for  syphilis a while back. I haven't had sex with anyone over a year. On my routine check of my bloodwork that i submitted to my primary care doctor, he inform me that i had  syphilis again. When i was treated the last time i was told after they had treated me it doesn't come back. But that is not true because it is back. I have a continues burning sensation inside the penis from the tip all the way to the base of it. Can anyone advise me about what is going on and what i need to do to put this behind me?

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Treatment needs to be complete to ensure clearance of infection while one episode does not confer immunity against a second infection. This could be a repeat infection or the symptoms could occur due to other infections as well. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a venereologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
