Hi,
How are you?
Do you still experience the pain symptoms?
Did the pain persist?
If the pain persists despite the medications and given the normal examination results ,I suggest that you have this further evaluated by a urologist. Your bladder scans did not show anything. No infection is also present.
A cystoscopy may be able to help. For pain in urination without a definite focus of infection or other structural cause, interstitial cystitis is a differential.
How old are you?
Is the pain associated with pain during sexual activity ?
Is there increase in urinary frequency?
Yes I have a pap smear done annually and its always normal, I also had a transverse vaginal ultrasound done and showed no abnormalities. I had a UA and culture done which showed no infection.
Thanks for all of your help.
Hi,
Pain in urination or dysuria do have several causes and each of these has to be assessed and excluded.
Common Causes:
Urinary tract infection
Urethritis (in men) caused by gonorrhea or chlamydia
Prostatitis
Interstitial cystitis
Candidal dermatitis or vaginitis
Contact dermatitis or vulvitis
Radiation cystitis
Urinary retention

In your case, were any other examinations aside from a bladder scan done? Was a urinalysis done or a urine culture done? Have you had a gynecologic consult wherein a pap smear was done to rule out involvement of underlying structures such as the ovaries, uterus or cervix?
Pain in urination may also be nerve related. In the absence of any infection and in the presence of increase in urinary frequency, interstitial cystitis may be a differential.
