Swelling on top of right testes

Hi..

In the last few weeks i have noticed a swelling on top of the right testes. Both the testes themselves are not swollen or have any swelling on them. It seems like an external lump outside the testes. I am concerned about it. Any suggestions what it could be and how should i deal with it. I exercise 3-4 days a week, could it be associated with that?

Hi,

By no swelling on the testes, do you mean that the lump does not appear to be arising from the testes?

A swelling that appears to arise form the epididymis is usually a cyst or the result of localized irritation or inflammation.

As you do not have any other symptoms of inflammation or irritation, it is unlikely that the swelling is the result of an infection.

Cysts arising form the epididymis are epididymal cysts or spermatoceles. The former contains serous fluid and the latter some sperms.

Ultrasound examination can reveal the exact character of the cyst and determine course of management.

Most epididymal cysts are harmless and require no further intervention or management.

Do keep us posted.
