Should have read this before i posted my question.
Hi,
The type of incision for a varicocelectomy depends on the approach and type of surgery you opted to have.
Laparoscopic and microsurgical approaches are performed through small incisions as opposed to open varicocelectomy.
Varicocelectomy pain subsides over a period of about 6 weeks.
Any surgical trauma to surrounding structures will affect the penis, and this could be the reason for the swelling.
However, it is best to have the swelling examined by the surgeon to rule out any complicating factors.
Scrotal elevation, rest, avoiding physical exertion have all been known to help reduce swelling and pain after varicocelectomy.
You can also ask for stronger pain killers for pain relief.
Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
