hard vein in penis, slight to no pain

hard vein that is just under the skin, goes from dorsal blood vessel around right side in a spiral. no more than a few cm thick and about 3-4 inches in length (when erect) going from about mid point to the base of the head on the underside. It is the same color as the skin (not purple like a blood vessel). It is very slightly painful when touching barely noticeable, and only when erect. When flaccid its not painful at all, and you can still see it/feel it. Is this a concern I need to run to the doctor to? Also, I pulled something in my groin around my right leg when playing with my dog on the floor, could that be related?
