Hi,

I started having simmilar problems at the age of 25 as well. I had occasions of UTI and Lidney infections prior to that but not as severe as from 25 on.
In 1989 at the age of 25 I got married, if my wife and I were shopping or doing something in public, I always had to know where the bathrooms were at. At times I would return to the bathroon within an hour. The same took place at home and I ended up loosing a lot of sleep because of this. One of my wife's friends remarked that I was strange always heading off to the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom I would urinate a small amount but have the sensation of still needing to urinate.

As things got worse, I ended up with a major kidney infection and sepsis, I aksed to be referred to a urologist at the age of 30. After several cystoscopies it was determined that I had somewhat of a restriction at the bladderneck. At the age of 30 I underwent a TURP and resection of the bladderneck. This only seemed to be good for about 6 months untill problems started again. I had another cystoscopy that showed that ther no longer was any restriction. The urologist sent me for a urodynamics test which showed that I had little or no control over my bladder and that I could not relax the shyncters. I was diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder in 1996 and was told to self cath at least once a day. Between 1994 and 2003, I used to come down with infections at the rate of about every 3 to 4 months requiring hospitalizations.
In 2003 the urodynamics test was repeated the 4th time and confirmed the neurogenic bladder. This time I was told to self cath at least 4 times a day. This cut the infection rate down drastically.
In my case it was discovered in 1998 that I have a neuropathy that is progressive and seems to effect other parts of my body.

I suggest that you talk about doing a urodynamics test. This test will show the technisions how you are able to uinate. This might also rule out or bring to light other problems. One condition that causes frequent urination can be due to diabetes.

All the best.

I suffered like you have for over ten years. After a bladder biopsy I was diagnosed with IC...Interstatial Cystitis of the bladder. Smply meaning holes in the bladder lining. I use Cystoproteck and drink 2 ounces of aloe vera daily under my doctor orders. The urination has slowed down. More and more I sleep through the entire night and am able to gp longer before the urge to urinate becomes unbearable. I was on 4-8 oz. glasses of water a day. That has moved up to six. I have other issues such as my bladder protruding into my vagina. My rectum and vagina are also slightly out of place. I have been told that is from childbirth. Also watch the foods you eat. Keep a diary and it will help you determine if the urination gets worse when you eat certian foods or drinks. My diet is deeply modified do to the fact that some foods and drinks actually irritate the bladder and make it worse. I have had to give up some of my favorite foods, but to be able to sit and watch an entire movie with my family is so worth it. Good luck. Also I see a Ureogynocologist. They treat the entire pelvic area. That gyn , bladder etc.
