pregnant with a ureteral stent

I am a 34 yo female, 22+ weeks pregnant with twins.  Two weeks ago, I went into the hospital with vaginal pressure, inability to urinte and right flank pain.  Turned out I had fluid on my right kidney.   We opted for a stent and when he performed the surgery, found the ureter twisted like a piece of spaghetti.  Immediate relief after surgery.  I'm now 2 weeks post op and am feeling not so fabulous.  I have pressure in my vagina, not due to babies, a constant need to urinate and a burning sensation when I do urinate.  I am fine when lying down or sitting for long periods of time but that's not me.  I'm on antibiotics, Peridium and drinking a ton of water.  Is this the way I should expect to feel for the duration of my pregnancy?  Is there anything that can be done for the burning sensation during urination?  Can the stent be removed before I give birth or will the twisting most likely happen again?  I'm at a loss and hoping there can be some relief.

I am 17 weeks pregnant I had what they thought was a kidney stones, since I have had them chronicaly before. Well the pain was unbearable taking dalauddid 2mg every 4 hours and then 4mg every 4 hours after the 2mg wouldnt even scrape at the pain. So my urologist told me to come in for a stent placement ASAP. They gave me an epidural instead of putting me out, well as soon as the epidural wore off I was in EXTREME pain.. They gave me I've pain meds once again and this time roxycodone 20mg every 3 hours, least to say I have been on A LOT of medication and yet STILL in excruciating pain. I have had the stent in or 4 days now and still have dark blood in my urine and tonight I started getting blood clots and it feels like acid is burning my bladder, also a low grade fever shaking and extreme nausea.. I just don't know what to do, any suggestions?

I have a stent currently, I am 28 weeks pregnant.  I went to the hospital two weeks ago with the pain during urination, the first time they gave me antibiotics and sent me home.  The next day I was on my hands and knees in pain, my mom recognized the pain and took me back to ER.  I was put on tons of pain meds and antiboitics the next day they put a stent.  My husband called our midwife and she me a natural cleanse of concentrated  cranberry, chlorophyl drops and half a lemon mixed with 10 oz water.  I took it 3 times a day and felt way better.  After that I dropped it to once a day.  I felt better had discomfort but I could handle it. About a week after that when I started back to work I noticed blood in my urine and then clots.  I called the urologist and they told me it was normal and to drink a ton of water. I am starting to feel pain and the stent is limiting me a lot.  They told me if they take the stent out and the pain returns they will have to plave a tube to my kindey and I will have a bag strapped to my back.  I am not sure what to do, should I deal with the pain of the stent or take my chances with removal? help any advice or similar issues?

I just wanted to post my experience I have been going through to maybe help someone out there going through the same thing.  A couple weeks ago I had a urethral stent placed because I have several large stones that I cannot pass.  I am now 31 weeks pregnant so they cannot do the lithotripsy until I give birth.  I was in excruciating pain right afterwards and agonizing pain for 2 weeks.  I bawled every single day because my bladder hurt so bad I couldn't take it anymore, even taking Lortab did not help what so ever. I had 2 younger children I could not even take care of!  I had been on antibiotics for only 3 days after my surgery to put the stent in and since I was in pain ever since I thought it was from the stent, I could barely walk.  Well I finally went to the ER a couple days ago and told them to check me for bladder infection.  Well I had a bad case of bladder stap infection that I probably had the whole time.  I got a shot of antibiotice plus a precription for 10 days of antibiotics.  Now I am feeling 90 % better!  I still feel the stent at times but it is bearable with the Lortab on a regular basis.  So if the pain is that bad make them check you for an infection because you may have to be on antibiotics the remainder of the time.  Also eat yogurt every day!

My wife has a bad infection since having a stent in here ureter after a kidney stone removal.  Repeated urine tests came up clear but burning and irritation continue.  She was on cipro for a while that seemed to help but with no findings in the urine, stopped that.  She remembered getting sips of weak baking soda in warm water from her Mom and we remembered about electrolyte imbalance.  I gave her a little with some gatorade and her symptoms are better today.  pedialite may be useful too.  Check this out with the Doctor and good luck.

I was checked for a UTI and it's not that.  I have a feeling it has something to do with the stent placement.  Am seeing my OBGYN tomorrow for a consultation.  Didn't know if it could be something else...

Hi There.  I have a 4 month old baby girl, so all the pregnancy stuff is still fresh in my mind.  You should never have a burning sensation when you urinate, that is a sign of a UTI. The constant need to urinate is common in pregnancy, so it can be hard to distinguish that from a UTI, but with the burning, I would call your OB and get checked out.
