A Tough Day Yesterday

I'm at the crossroads.....I always start out fine on any diet......then I'll hit a few bumps in the road.....and not want to own it....so I quit.

The past few days have been one distraction after another.  Some were fun....going out with friends, to the movies, to dinner.  And some weren't....fighting with son and husband about our dogs, which is just dumb.  Dogs are...well...dogs...they have to be trained consistently (read: not just by me) so they know not to jump, bark, etc.

So when the going gets tense I always turn to my best friend....ice cream.  Which leads to eating OUT-OF-CONTROL for days on end.

But not this time....

This morning I'm going to own my behavior and regain control.  Thanks for being here when I needed you, everyone.
I surely couldn't do this without you.

Sandy

Thank you everyone for all the support....

Today was a pretty good day, diet wise.  I survived a spat with my son without hitting the pantry.  He's a great kid (man...after all he's 22) and I know t's hard to be just starting out in this economy (it's hard to anybody in this economy!!!)  We always told him, stay in school, work hard, get good grades and life will be great.  Well, he did all that and....

......it's hard to live at home after living on his own at college....or so I keep telling myself  LOL   :)

WOW, I'm impressed.

See, that's what I mean about coming to MH and having this community behind and around you/us.  I think we all will find that this makes the difference THIS TIME.  We are NOT in this ALONE.

Good job for shouting out!  You're doing so good.  You're off to such a good start.

I use to be just like you. I've started many diets in the past, that once something got messed up I would just blow my diet and say I'll start a new one next month. BUT, that was the old me. I started my current diet (my own) back on September 14,2008 and still to this day I am sticking with it. I admit I have my ups and downs still, where I crave to eat everything in sight....but then I remind myself NO, I want to get healthy and have kids some day and be a size 12 or 16!!! So I stay strong and while my boyfriend is eating a whole box of brownies and drinking a whole 2 liter bottle of soda, I just sit there and be happy with one of my healthy snacks and don't let it bother me. You have to do this for yourself, and not let anybody get in your way of your goal.

don't let a little bump in the road get you down. We all have our ups and downs. Just stay focused. Next time you get stressed take a walk or put on some music and dance. This will fight the need to eat and help burn more calories.

Taking control and owning up to your behavior is a step in the right direction.  You sound like you are finally there and keep a positive outlook on your ultimate goal this time around.  We all have the ups and downs but recognizing them and staying in control is key.  I have a saying posted around my whole house that helps keep me going at times.

"Never trade what you want at the moment for what you want the most."

Hang in there and keep up the good work!
