You don't mention how old you are. I would suggest not getting any medication to help you to suppress your appetite. I don't think you should "go on a diet" either. When you do it implies you'll go off the diet. I say go back to the basics: eat a bit less every day and move around and exercise more. You don't have to exercise an hour a day. But I think it's important to do something almost every day. Walking is ok for a day or 2 in the week, but if you're trying to lose weight I suggest doing something cardio at the gym perhaps. I take my ipod and work out. Have some weights at home---start with 5 pounds and go up from there.
It is a committment for sure. But you can do it. It may be uncomfortable at times but you can do it. The rewards are great. Think about what you're trying to do. You want to lose weight to feel better, look better and become more healthy. Meditate on this too if that helps.
I exercise just about every day. I'm not saying I like it but I feel so good afterward, my face has color and I have more energy in the day.
You can do this!

Weight loss is a huge commitment that includes alot of work. For your size, and I am not a doctor, I would consume less than 1500 calories per day in order to loose weight. 1 lbs of fat is equivelant to 3500 calories so you see how many calories you need to cut out per day and/or excess exercise you must do.
Exercise is very important for a weight loss regiment, what is your fitness level now? You need to either up your activity level gradually, or start slowly, this is assuming you are not a trained athlete doing 4 hours of exercise a day..lol.
There are no magic pills because otherwise there would not be an overweight epidemic in the United States.
Fat should be 20-25% of your diet and don't be fooled there is a lot of fat included in almost all foods. 60% carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables are very good sources. Then last but definately not least, we need 12-20% daily consumption of protein.
Drink more water and eliminate excess fruit juices and/or pop. Use smart ideas including portion control....and a big bowl of pasta is not protion control. Avoid late night snack and limit yourself to one or two cheat foods a week (within reason of course)
Good Luck
