Barb, maybe the doctor's office simply lost the blood-test results you have been waiting for, and the people looking for them keep giving up because they can't find them and then forget to call you back. There's no excuse for them keeping you hanging this long if they have them!
One way to force yourself to walk is to get a dog. (Any chance?) A nice little one would be a good one-mile dog. :-)
I was walking up a steep hill yesterday, and my chest tightened up and hurt. When I got to the top and paused a minute, it stopped. I've noticed before that hills make me pant when on long walks with my husband, but blew it off as me not having good "wind" like he does, since he's a runner. This time it was definitely a compressed feeling in the chest. I just wonder. My grandfather had terrible angina, even passing out once on our porch after walking up ten steps, and my little event was textbook for stable angina. I have an appointment with my doctor this month, and will definitely mention it, and should probably do a treadmill test specifically with angina in mind. (My last treadmill test was at least 15 years ago.) I really hate to think it would be angina (not the least because I associate it with grandpa, you know, *old* people get angina), but it sure could be, since it's that obvious in the family.
My adventures with cutting coffee have been unexpected. I haven't had cravings (that alone was unexpected), plus have been able to stick with cutting out all other caffeinated drinks (cola, caffeinated teas). But, though a side effect of quitting coffee can be weight loss (if the coffee has sugar and cream), another can be weight gain, because coffee acts as an appetite suppressant. (!) Which, you could prove by me. I'm up a pound since last week. That doesn't sound like so much, but usually in only a week, my weight will change in only small increments, like, a half pound. Being up a solid 1.1 since last week is noticeable for me. At the least, the expected melting-off of weight due to no longer drinking espressos with hidden sugar from Starbucks hasn't happened. If I weren't cutting caffeine for other reasons, I'd be tempted to go back onto coffee if only to test the theory that it helps with weight loss!
Our son did his national AP test this past Friday, meaning the tension and anxiety thick enough to cut with a knife is no longer floating around the house. He says he feels like he did OK. I wasn't concerned that he didn't know the material, but I was concerned that he would get so nervous he wouldn't be able to remember it. (This has happened to him with math tests before.) But he blasted through, on some reassurance from us and some adrenaline. I'm pleased -- maybe the stress was triggering my angina! lol
Hope everyone has a great week!
