What you say is absolutely true. It is important to remember that healthy weight doesn't necessarily mean that you have good health. Many skinny top models have very high percentage of body fat (which BMI does not take into consideration) and low BMI, and we know this is not healthy.
If you get an athlete, for example, it is quite possible that he will be considered "overweight" using the BMI concept, but we know he is not! And his body fat is likely to be very low! So, again, this is just a general tool that must be used with good sense.
The BMI is a pretty good measure for ideal weight, but it's kind of broad and doesn't take into account a lot of factors.
And just because you're the right weight according to the BMI doesn't mean you shouldn't eat healthy and exercise. :)
People can be unhealthy and have a normal BMI.
People can be healthy and have a high BMI.
Everyone should aim for a healthier lifestyle. It's not just about losing weight. It's actually pretty fun and feels great!

If you are healthy and is not an athlete, health professionals tend to use the Body Mass Index to assess whether you are at a healthy (desired) weight or not. You can find several online BMI calculators (e.g. http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/), but the formula is basically:
BMI (kg/m2) = weight (kg) / height^2 (m)
(BMI in kilograms per square meter is you weight in kilograms devided by your squared height in meters).
The healthy BMI for an adult (non-obese, middle-age, non-athlete) is between 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m2.
If you want to know your "ideal" weight, you can use the minimum and maximum to know your healthy weight range.
EXAMPLE:
Weight: 63 kg
Height: 1.67 m
BMI = 63/ (1.67)^2
BMI = 63 / 2.7889
BMI = ~ 22.6 kg/m2 --> Healthy weight
To make the inverse calculations:
18.5 = weight / (1.67)^2
weight = 18.5 * 2.7889
Weight (minimum) = 51.6 kg
24.9 = weight / (1.67)^2
weight = 24.9 * 2.7889
Weight (maximum) = 69.44 kg
So the healthy weight range for someone with 1.67 m is between 51.6 to 69.44 kg.
