I need help.!!

Hello, I am a sixteen year old girl who has been over weight for basically her whole life. I am 5'2 and I weigh 220lbs. Horrible, right? I'm not at high right for a heart attack and clogged arteries. (I'm so ashamed.) I've been exercising for awhile on and off. But I can't seem to find a way to stay motivated! I also have trouble with portion sizing. I tend to get bored and over eat. Any advice that may be able to help me with either of these problems? I want to weigh at least 165 before I graduate high school in 2014.

Im 5 2.
I put a pic of how I want to look on fridge.
I also post motivational post it notes. You have to love urself especially if ur an emotional eater.
I bought a hula hoop and skipping rope and did it in garden burns stupidly high calories also gardening and housework as at first didnt want to exercise in front of people also walked everywhere.
Then I joined gym and did classes once uve worked calories off and driving home from gym can smell kfc but I visualise the number of calories ive just burnt off which is hard work and visualise the calories in the kfc and think no way is it worth it.
I ise highlight hot chocolate when I crave chocolate. Have porridge or weetabix EVERY day never skip brekky good luck

I struggle with staying motivated too. Every time I don't want to work out I remind myself of my goal. What do I want more? To skip a work out and sit on the couch and watch tv or to be healthy and happy with my body? Would I rather have that cupcake or wake up every morning feeling comfortable in my body. Keep reminding yourself of your goal! I also save pictures on my phone of encouraging quotes, before and afters of people my size, and the things I would like to do when I reach my goal weight (go to the beach, ride a roller coaster, or cute clothes I would love to wear). That always helps me make the right decision :).

Hi,
dont worry Im 5 foot 2 and I use to be 16 stone so I know where your coming from. With exercise you need to keep a momentum going, dont just stop one day and then do it again next week. Find something that is fairly active and that you enjoy (mine was and still is Horse-riding, that made me lose 3 stone). With food, dont call it a diet, people make mistakes with dieting and get too strict for example for lunch I would have a cheese and pickle sandwich with crisps, if I was on a diet mistake I would have a cracker. Thats the mistake there, yeah I would definately be hungry as my body is use to having more so therefore I would then overeat. What you need to do is take the crisps away then gradually eat less during lunch ( also other meals). So slow is key, dont suddenly take a load of all of it away, do it gradually.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so have something like porridge or ready brek, or wheatabix, something that is nutritious and fills you up, not stuff like chocolate cereal (commercial cereal) yes it tastes nice but its all sugar and does nothing for your body.

Also look on packets, the fat, if its under 4g then its fine, if its over 4g dont have it !

Hope this helps !!! Any questions, just ask !

Hi Destinee_aria,

I would suggest making an appointment to see your family doctor to
discuss this. It is always advisable before you start a diet, to discuss
this with your doctor. Your regular family doctor knows your medical
history which is really important. You don't want to lose the weight
too quickly. No only is this not healthy, but if you lose the weight
slowly, there is less chance of regaining any weight that you lose.
I'm petite too and somewhat over weight. You don't have to be ashamed.
But it would be a good idea to try and get your weight down simply
for health reasons.  I'm sure your family doctor can give you some
ideas of good food choices. What would be really good is if your
family doctor could give you a referral to a nutritionist or a dietician.
They can help you with portion sizing, healthy food choices etc.
Until you see your doctor, try and eat protein at every one of your
main 3 meals ie breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you drink pop, give
up pop especially diet pop which actually makes you crave more
sugar. Try to limit your consumption of junk food - lots of empty calories
but not nutritious. Try and eat more fruit and vegetables. I wish you well. Eve

I had exactly the same problem until i joined a football club.. i feel committed to my coaches to turn up, i excersize, i socialize, and they help me with pretty much anything. Its a great way to ensure you workout atleasy once a week.. most weeks twice. Plus, at my club at least, it doesnt even matter if you can play or not. They are just happy to have you there. Try search up local teams and get involved, doesnt have to necessarily be football, most sports give you a thorough workout.
