Pills to stop early pregnancy‏

Hello everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask? but Me and my girlfriend are freaking out because she has been delayed for almost 2 weeks now. We are thinking of her taking a pregnancy test but both of us decide that we will do it on the next week or so just to make sure it'll have a better result(this was an advice given to us by our closest friends). I know that there is a 50/50 chance but If ever the test do comes and it goes positive. Are there ways like taking pills perhaps to stop this? if ever if my girlfriend do takes pills will it have harmful side effects that in the future make her not able to become pregnant? Thank you in advance I would really appreciate it if you will reply.

That's great news. I'm so glad you got back to us. Many people post things and we never hear from them again about the outcome.
Now you and your girlfriend can finally rest assured that everything is alright.

Your girlfriend is now almost 3 weeks late so the test should be pretty accurate.
A woman can skip her period at times for many reasons. If your girlfriend has been stressed about being pregnant that could cause her period to be delayed. Now that she has tested and it's negative she can calm down and hopefully get her period soon. When is she due for her period again?

First, your girlfriend needs to take that test to see if she's even pregnant.
No, she should not have problems in the future with other pregnancies if she uses the pills.
And yes, there can be side effects like bleeding, cramping and not feeling well.
Please let us know what the test says.

Hello Remar and specialmom,

My gf will be taking the test today since she had to go out of town last weekend. I will update you guys on this thank you for taking the time to reply. It means a lot, however may i ask upon your experience/knowledge if there are ways like pills to stop the pregnancy, will this harm my girlfriend thru side effects? or in such a way make her not be able to become pregnant in the future? thank you in advance!

Hi there.   Yes, agree with our wise Remar that you should have her take a home pregnancy test now.

Planned Parenthood is a good resource for women in this position.  Check to find the nearest location to you.  Doctors are there that can see her and make recommendations and it is often free or on a sliding fee scale.  Or any women's clinic can help her,  If she is indeed pregnant, a doctor can prescribe something to terminate the pregnancy if that is still an option based on time.

There is something called a morning after pill that is supposedly over the counter but it doesn't work if you are already pregnant.

Now, here comes the lecture.  PLEASE please please use birth control each and every time you have sex so an unwanted pregnancy doesn't occur.

good luck

Since your girlfriend is 2 weeks late she can test now and it will be pretty accurate. It's better to go ahead and find out now so you either deal with a pregnancy or stop worrying if she's not pregnant.
I know there used to be a combo of pills for very early pregnancy but you had to get them from a Dr or a woman's clinic. Honestly, I'm not sure if they're still being used or not. I can try to find out for you though or you can call the clinic.
I highly recommend using condoms or your girlfriend getting on some form of birth control. Getting the pills to stop the pregnancy, if she is pregnant, will not be free. A woman's clinic will give you free condoms and sometimes other forms of birth control for free depending on your income.
