Black/brown coloured discharge with no pains or discomfort, not much bleeding negative PT

Hi All,

I have a query which I am wondering if anyone may know/experienced and got an answer from what the cause was.

At the same day as I was expecting my period I got some dark brownish discharge. Often it starts with some brown patches and I soon after starts bleeding like normal. Now, my partner and I haven't been very active this month so I am pretty sure I am not pregnant. With all the stress of Christmas I may be late if anything but I am wondering what this may be?

I have no pain or discomfort in my tummy, my tummy is not swollen, the only thing is this dark brown sometimes glupy/clumpy old blood comes out. Almost the same colour as a liver (to be more precise in my description) and it is almost black today. It's not much, perhaps a table spoons worth and it's decreased since yesterday when it first came. It's very odd. I am trying to remember if I have had anything like this before when I had a functional cyst (chocolate cyst) but can't remember.

It doesn't smell or itch. I have no pains as I said just this brown discharge. I guess I'll have to go and see my doctor about it to have it checked but it would be interesting to see if anyone else has had the same thing with the same symptoms and if you found out what it was?

I forgot to mention that I am 35, turning 36 soon, and I have gone through some IUI treatment. The last one was two cycles ago but I have had normal periods after this.

Can it be due to hormonal changes due to the small dose of hormones I took (puregon 50 IU and trigger)?

The last couple of cycles, without any treatment, I experienced tender breasts but I have bled since then and all the tests have been negative. I am wondering if it would take this long for my body to adjust back to normal?
