how about diabetes insipitus (sp?) That could explain the I&O difference, i don't know how that is tested. have u worn a 48 holter/event monitor? I've had palpatations and tachycardia since my last lap, my EKG is normal but the 48 hr monitor showed SVT. I now take digoxin and it's much improved. I have no idea how the surgery caused it and I know the doctor thinks i'm crazy for thinking that surgery could cause it. I know the frustration of not having a diagnosis for ur symptoms, especially as an RN since a little bit of knowledge goes a long way. My symptoms are abdominal/GI--tests come back normal, but I still don't feel right. At least it sounds like ur doctor is working with u. good luck.
PS u don't have a DVT or PE do u?
Hello,
Thanks for the reply :) I actually haven't noticed a huge difference in my appetite. Do you have polyuria and night sweats?
This is frustrating but I am thankful to have the support of my family. They are worried about me. My mom has been begging me to go to the doctor for months now and the only reason I finally went was because I had to go to the ER and have surgery. My doctor is concerned and she is doing everything she can.
I also hope that you can get some answers soon. Let me know what you hear because it very well might pertain to me as well :)
Hi there,
I find your message very interesting as I have been suffering similar symptoms since last summer. I feel that my doctors look at me as though I'm paranoid! I believe mine has esculated from stress (my old job which I have left about 6 weeks ago though I still suffer).
I ha surgery last June to correct a deviated septum & I ended up with post op infection and back in hospital. I was back in hospital in & out for 2 months & all the while on v.strong antibiotics. I was also admitted for possible appendicitis, stayed in 4 nights but they didn't remove it. I get the sweats, shakes, chills, SOB for no reason ie watching tv, cleaning teeth etc, horrible stabbing pains on the r.s of my head and neck, constant headache, pains in r.s stomach, r.s hip pain, pains in tight leg & vein swelling, extreme dizziness that hits out of the blue almos like a warm feeling like you're going to be sick & my legs buckle. This originally was happening about 4-5 times per hour but it is slowly reducing. I feel constantly tired and run down. I have had xrays, ct scans, ultra sounds, ive even been to spend a day at the balance centre & had to go through intensive testing. I get random pains in my left ribs, tender to touch, palpatations, then random faint pulses, random shooting pains, aching joints, feeling of being out of it, confusion when speaking sometimes, inability to sleep and then other nights/days i could go 16 hours without waking up, ive had 4 uti's in the last year (have one now), numerous ear infections, i also have a very sore neck since my post op infection. I too am also waiting for my MRI scan date to come through. I think the whole situation of not knowing and the doctors seem to be at a loss at whats happening really gets to you. I haven't worked for 6 weeks and I admit the stress of not being in that environment has eased, though I am surprised I still feel rubbish, which makes me think it's something more. Im 25 y/o, never do drugs, may have a drink a few times a month, not sexually active, nor have ever been so stds et been written off. I find too that I don't really talk about it anymore as I think when people can't see a physical illness they think you are just doing it for attention. I don't even talk to my family now about it after pretty much been ignored when trying to seek support. It is frustrating and can be a scary thing to cope with alone. I hope your MRI scan comes through soon an you get some answers.
Oh just out of interest how do you find your appetite with all of this? Have you noticed a loss in weight even through you're not trying and cut back on exercise? Do you find too that your thirst has increased?
I'm So glad of these support groups, even though it's strange writing about your medical history online. It's nice to know supports out there. If ou feel like talking more let me know.
T/c :-) and fingers crossed for some answers.
Katie.
