Drinking alcohol regularly while taking medication safe or not?

My mom is on gallstone medication treatment provided by my cousin sister.
I am concerned because she drinks beer 4 times per week and when she drinks she drinks 4-6 per day.
Does it render the medication less ineffective? or completely ruins it?

Has this been prescribed for her? Does her doctor know about the alcohol consumption? That can be a problem with gallbladder issues.

This is South Korean medicine and she doesn't want my cousin to know that she is drinking beer.
In general, it is never a good idea to self treat and take medicine from someone that isn't a doctor.  Self diagnosing is how we get ourselves in medical trouble.

I understand the concern that she is drinking and wants to hide it.  Do you feel she has a drinking problem? Would it be wise to work on her not drinking anymore?  It may also make the digestive issues and idea that she is having gallbladder issues ---  make those symptoms better.
