I had Candida Glabrata for 2 years and had been to 3 gynecologist and 2 infectious disease drs with no relief. I literally tried everything even iv Amphotericin b which threw me into kidney failure and was in the hospital for 4 days. I researched the internet for clinics and found Drexel University clinic in Philadelphia. I was so at the end of my rope that my husband said make an appointment and we flew from Florida to Philadelphia and saw Rebecca Stephens who was absolutely a life saver for me. I have been on Boric Acid for 9 months and my last two tests have been negative. They are also treating me for Vaulvadina which can cause discomfort on the outside of the vulva.
I highly recommend going to Drexel for help when drs don't want to take drastic measures.

FYI, I too had c- diff about 10 months ago. I also suspect the candida glabrata is caused by that. Now reading this I am almost positive. I have been getting symptoms for months after and was just diagnosed with it.
Chronic yeast infections are also a sign of quite a strong immune system. The symptoms, such as burning, are actually intensified because the immune system is so strong, the body is having an allergic reaction to the yeast organisms.
Hello. I am new to this forum. I am trying to get advice and opinions on my yeast problem. If you don't mind me asking, do you still have the yeast infection? I currently have a vaginal yeast infection. I have had it for a very long time. I don't have hiv or diabetes. I am currently being treated with Itraconazole, 100mg per day. Every single time I went to a gynecologist, they tell me they see the yeast on the koh slide, and in my vagina, but it never cultures. I do not understand why it does not come up on the culture. I have the classic cottage cheese discharge. I wish they could determine the name of the yeast. Do you think it's possible that type of yeast I have is Glabrata? I am currently being treated by an infectious disease doctor who has helped me more than any of the gynecologists I have seen. I was told that when you have a yeast infection that won't go away, the next step up from a gynecologist is an infectious disease doctor.
Hi all! I too have had these problems for a year and a half. In the summer of 07 I had a yeast infection for four months that would not go away, and never even cultured. Tried everything, diflucan, boric acid, monistat, terazol. What finally killed it was gynazole. Was clear for 11 months. Now have another, I am not sure what triggered it. Took a gynazole, felt better for 10 days, then it came back. And the funny thing is my yeast they cannot see under a microscope and it does not culture. Anyone ever heard of this?
Also I have found that garlic cloves help with the burning!
Have you girls been tested for HIV lately? Chronic yeast infections are a sign of a very compromised immune system.
Thank you, Girl522, for your input. I don't have BV, so I'm not dealing with that. Also, Glabrata is not a candida albican and is resistant to Diflucan, so I can't take that as is suggested in your post. I do have to say; however, that changing my diet and taking acidolphus and lactobacillus has dramatically improved my yeast infection as yeast does live in the intestinal tract and if you don't feed it, it won't multiply.
Go to the STD forum and look for my post from yesterday. I too suffer from chronic yeast infections and asked the doctor some questions. From what the doctor told me your diet has nothing to do with and taking acidophilus won't help either.
