Excruciating menstrual pain

Hello. I'm 22 years old and for the last few years (since about 16), I've been getting cycles that last from 3-4 months. During this time the pain is so horrible that I can't even move without screaming. Also, I've been getting blood clots the size of my fist, sometimes larger. I will tell you I'm still a virgin. Plus when my period finally leaves, I still get cramps and bloating that hurt tremendously, and I get full at meals very quickly. My period after that goes away for about 1 year, maybe 6 months before it's back with avengence. I do not have medical insurance to see a doctor, so I was hoping someone here could help me...

Have you tried taking any naprogesics for the period pain relief? These may provide symptomatic relief for mild period pain. However, based on what you have described, it sounds like your condition is a little more serious, which could possibly be dysmenorrhea or endometriosis.

There are really not many options available if you do not see a doctor, as your heavy, prolonged menstrual flows and irregular periods could be balanced by oral contraceptive pills, which are commonly prescribed for severe dysmenorrhea such as in your case. It will help to regulate your periods (monthly) and reduce the PMS effects you are experiencing. These can only be prescribed by a doctor, though.

A minor group of women have found that taking Evening Primrose Oil may help with period pain or PMS-related effects, however this may not work for more severe symptoms such as the ones you are experiencing.

I would really recommend that you seek advice from your local doctor if these symptoms persist.
