Safe, double-protected sex, negative test, bloody cervical plug = miscarriage??

At the beginning of this month, my sexual partner and I had protected sex (condom and birth control). I am sure the condom did not break even though we had it rough. I bled a little a few days after. I thought nothing of it because of the rough sex. My period is late. I have a couple more days on my inactive pills for it to start. Tonight, I thought it had started because I saw a gooey, stringy, blood-tinged mucus. I became curious and researched online. I became nauseated with the answers I was getting. I took an at-home pregnancy test and it was negative. I've been having PMS symptoms since last week. I usually have my symptoms a week prior to having my period. Anyway, I then read up on miscarriages just to put my mind at ease. It made me feel a little better seeing that it is too soon to lose a cervical plug, if that was what I saw. I will make an appointment as soon as I can to be sure and take a test in the morning for a more accurate reading. Please share any insight? I am not wanting to be pregnant.

I just went to the bathroom. Blood. Thank goodness! Honestly, I wished on 11:11 to not be pregnant. I am still going to take the test again in the morning to be absolutely sure.
