Horrible reaction to Monistat

I recently had a yeast infection and since I'd had them before and instantly knew what it was, I decided to try Monistat 3 day instead of making a trip to the doctor for the Diflucan, which is what I had done in the past. While I was using it I noticed that over the 3 day period it was getting harder for me to fit the application in and by day 3 I had completely swollen and it felt like it was on fire! The yeast infection is gone now, but I am still swollen and still have slight burning every now and then, not so much painful as it is annoying, and it has been 5 days since I used this product! It's going down a bit, but it seems to be taking its time..anyone know how I might be able to speed the healing process?? Next time I'll just get the Diflucan and avoid all of this!

I am so glad I found this forum.  I had never had a yeast infection before, so when I started experiencing some mild itching down there and some slight discharge, I though it'd be a quick fix to get some Monistat.  I just inserted the CVS version of Monistat 3 and it was the most intense pain and itching I have ever experienced.  The sad thing is I was starting to feel better before I used it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt just in case I did actually have an infection.  Boy was I wrong.  This is terrible and a million times worse then the yeast infection itself.  My boyfriend suggested I take a shower, which has helped a little but the burning is still horrible and I know I'm not going to be able to sleep.  DO NOT USE THIS.

I am so glad to have found this page. Last night I used CVS's version of Monistat 1, and I thought I was going to need to go to ER with all the pain I was experiencing. My husband found this page and advised that I put water on it. (I was using ice, which wasn't getting the job done and was probably too intense.) So, I used my fingers to dig out whatever remaining cream I could find, and then (yes, embarrassing), I sat in the kitchen sink and used the detachable sprayer to run cold water on and in my vagina. It helped tremendously. I did this for about 45 minutes, and then I put ice on it (wrapped in a washcloth to avoid irritation) and went to bed It helped! I can't believe this stuff is on the market....

I had my first yeast infection this past week. I've never had one before and have never been to the gyno so I went and bought some Monistat 3 Day. I cannot believe much worse it made it. This all began with some annoying itching so I trust in Monistat and my vagina was on fire. It burned unexplainably bad, so bad that I cried so much, my vagina swelled up so much that it was uncomfortable to sit or walk because of the friction of being so swelled up. My vagina was blood red, itchy, burning, swelled up, extremely dry and I got these bumps all over. It was the most painful, uncomfortable, embarassing thing I have ever been to. Keep in mind I've never been to the gyno..well I called ever gyno, clinic everything in my entire state and no one could help me because it was a Friday afternoon, no one even tried. I ended up in the emergency room that night and was examined by three doctors who all concluded it was from the Monistat and that it only began with a simple yeast infection.

I WILL NEVER USE THIS AGAIN, WORST THING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!

Has anyone had irregular heart beats after using this product? I went to the ER this weekend because a had several minutes of irregular heart beat with discomfort. I didn't think about it until after I left the ER but the day before I had used the 1200mg Monistat. I thought it was odd that the 3 day pack has 3- 200mg and the one day has 1200mg. That is a big jump in dosage. After looking up the ingredient online I found that some that have received this medicine through and IV have had irregular heart beats, heart attacks and even death. I just wonder if such a high dose had and affect on my heart. Thanks! Blessedx6

I know my skin is sensitive so I was expecting some kind of reaction from monistat. But what I am experiencing right now is worse than the symptoms of the yeast infection itself. I felt the incredible itching almost immediately. Within 5 minutes I was in tears. It's 11pm and there is no way I'll sleep tonight. Wondering how I'm supposed to get through the workday tomorrow with no sleep. In this day and age I find it disturbing that this is what women are expected to deal with from a MEDICATION which is supposed to ease symtoms! I bet if men had to feel this kind of itching, pain, burning there would be more research and somebody would come up with something that allows one to treat the infection and still be able to function normally while going through treatment. I will mention this to the triage nurse at the ob/gyn, who advised me monistat would ease my symptoms until I could see the doc, and strongly suggest that they not have their patients use monistat.

Took monistat 7 as obgyn recommended because I'm pregnant. First day it was okay... second day slight burning... I put it in today and now I can't sit still. It burns like nothing I've ever felt before. And since I'm pregnant I can't douch.  :'/  it worries me that I'm in this much pain during pregnancy. How do I really know that if I'm having a bad reaction that it will not hurt my child. The pain seems to be easing but if only it would enough so I.could sleep so it would get better. It tells u to take all 7 in order to clear infection. Are u kidding me?
