won't stop bleeding suddenly after 5 months with a coil fitted

I had a coil fitted 5 months ago after having an abortion,,I had the normall cramp pains an heavey bleeding the in the first part of the monthly..then my last monthly I was a week late then I come on an had my monthly as normal I was due to finish when all of a sudden one morning I had excrutiating cramp pain.. after my co-codamol eventually wore it off abit as I got up to go to the loo I had a sudden gush of blood an couldn't stop bleeding heavey. I went to the doctors an she gave me some tablets to stop the bleeding an to have a scan.Three weeks on I am still having cramp pains every day an bleed an it stops in the evening then it starts allover again the next day on an on..the scan has showed nothing wrong inside me..Please does anyone have any idea what is causing this??  I would understand if it had happened when I was first fitted with the copper coil but not just suddenly out the blue..

Hello,

It is important to rule out endoemtriosis in your case. Although ultrasound is useful in diagnosing endometriosis, but still cannot definitively diagnose endometriosis.Laproscopy is the only accurate way of diagnosing endometriosis.Treatment involves NSAID pain killers,GnRH analogs, oral contraceptive pills, progestins and surgery.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello,
You seem to be having the symptoms of metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases, PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus.
