Opinions on the Pill

I have been suffering with PMDD for some time now (I'm 18) and I can no longer be going through this nearly every month. What's more beneficial? Going on the pill to stop this and increase my risk of getting certain disease and mood swings or just cope? I know there are other things I can get too like the rod or the coil so if you have any experience with that please let me know.

I'm not an expert and I'm assuming since you're asking here its effecting work and home. You could ask your GP and GYN to get two medical opinions. Perhaps a therapist as an alternate route to hormones. Also ask about getting labs done for hormone levels. For me a prescription of progesterone was what I needed instead of birth control although I was trying to get pregnant at the time. It took a little trial and error but I felt so much better, more balanced once I did.
