Period problems.

I am 14 years old. I started getting my period when I was 11.  Well last year before I went on vacation in August I had my period. And I didn't have it for 6 whole months. And I prayed and prayed to have it. And I did. I had it twice out of two months. And yet again I had it before vacation and I haven't had since( I went in September) I'm kind of concerned but not really. I just need to know is it naturally to have my period skip for such long periods of time?

Hi there and welcome to young women hood, yes its very natural to have your period be irregular when your first starting your period. It will get better with time.

At your age it's very normal to have irregular periods because your hormones are still all over the place due to puberty. It's going to take some time (a few years) for your body to settle into a normal schedule. I know it's really annoying not knowing when you'll get your period but most likely in the next year or so it should get more normal for schedule.

There are some girls who continue to have irregular periods going into adulthood. They typically go on the pill to try to regulate their period.  This might be something for you to think about if you're still having issues in a couple of years.
