Hi there and welcome.  Congrats on the baby!!  Very exciting.  Well, carrying a baby to term sure does a number on stomach muscles.  I was much older than you when I had my kids and faced that same dilemma.  I think you are completely on the right track.  Eating well is the first step. Our physique is 80 percent what we eat . . . so the experts say.  A diet of lean protein, lots of vegi's and fruit with only an occasional indulgence of the sweet or fatty variety is the best way to go.  No big diets that cause us to be hungry or obsess about food!  Then exercise----  cardio is awesome.  if you can, a YMCA or YWCA often offer memberships on a sliding fee scale based on income and they have childcare and you can take an hour long class.  Zumba is fun and I really like boot camp.  Lots of people like the cycling classes too (not me).  Swimming tones the whole body and is a great cardiovascular work out.  Anyway, just a thought if you can get out to a gym.  That always motivates me and you'll meet lots of other moms there.  Jogging is great too.  Or you can get a work out dvd to try at the library to break up the work outs.  I like interval training with small hand weights and intermittent cardiovascular work at home.  do lots of sit ups.

You'll get there!  I am sure with your effort, you'll be back to your old shape soon enough.  peace and happy mommyhood!
