Uterine Ablation

I had a uterine ablation a year ago and it was a huge success!  I never got another period after.  However, yesterday I started to experience menstral cramps and very, very light bleeding - just a little spotting.  Today I am still getting cramps, bloated, and extremely irritated, all the symptoms that come along with my period.  Is this normal so long after having the procedure?

Thank you for the helpful information.  I am a 42 yr. old woman who has 2 children (10 and 5).  I had a tubal ligation during the birth of my second child and had the ablation last December.  As it turns out, I only experienced a few drops of blood but I find I am bloated, experiencing some cramping for approx. 3 days now and I am very irritable (PMS I assume).  I just thought this was somewhat strange a year after since I had never had a period since the procedure.  I lost my job in March so right now I do not have insurance to go to my gynecologist.  I was just wondering if this was something to be concerned about...

Thank You-
Danielle

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
In many cases, a very light period maybe experienced for 3-6 months after the surgery, and then it will go away completely. Sometimes heavy periods may return especially in younger women, and another endometrial ablation surgery may be needed. I suggest you to get it evaluated from your gynecologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
