Weird periods

I posted this by accident in the pain management section, so dont be supprised to see this twice. ;lol.

I have been using tampons from day one of my periods. I started when I was 14 and still having them in my late 40's (oh joy). What is weird is that if I was to use 20 tampons during a cycle, only 8 of those would be completely used. What I mean is I will have an accident and blood will get all over my clothing. I rush to the restroom to clean up and change my tampon but the tampon hardly has a spot of blood on it. This happens sometimes right after I insert one up to 3 hours afterwards. Light and heavy days, it doesn't seem to matter. I just don't get it, there is only one direction the tampon can go and I can last for hours without an overflow, so if my tampon is not absorbing nor contacting any blood what is holding it back. Also, how is the blood passing by my tampon and soiling my clothes while only leaving a small spot on the tampon.

LOL I know, I used to die laughing when they would say this.

Adenomyosis usually causes a lot of bleeding and sometimes people with Endo don't have cramping like others do.

I have a hard time inserting a tampon because it feels like my vaginal canal is crooked and yes there were times that it seemed to absorb just the one side however not all the time.

Have you seen a gynecologist?

Do you get painful periods as well? It could be Adenomyosis that you have or Endometriosis. Have you read up on those before. I have Endometriosis and I went through tampons like mad and I used to remember health class and them saying you bleed only 1 tbsp a month!!!! BAHAH ya right.

I have tried every brand and type known to man. It seems as if I have a fork in my vagina, like the tampon gets inserted into one side and I bleeds out the other. I don't think this is possible but who knows.

Hi there and welcome!  I'm also in my 40's nearing the late side.  And I too am having heavier flow.  This is actually normal.  I don't really understand the issue with the tampon that you describe ----  that it is not used up but that you have blood passing by it.  Have you tried switching brands.  maybe go to a 'super plus absorbancy'.  I agree that is odd about how the blood flow is not being absorbed by the tampon.  Switch brands and tell us if that helps or if the same thing happens.  good luck
