Another Raynauds sufferer here!  Like many others, I have normal blood pressure, normal weight, healthy and on no medications but take vitamins (including D3, fish oil and over 1000mg of C every day).  I'm 39 now and I think I got my first one at about 35 years old.  It sometimes happens in summer and sometimes in winter and until last night I always thought it was some kind of insect bite (always on the palm side, middle knuckle of whichever finger or thumb).

The only thing that helps when I feel the "bee sting" beginnings of it is to ice it as soon and as long as possible to stop it developing into what I call the Black Digit of Death - the bruising can be really quite severe!  Quite frustrating that there seems to be no diagnosis or treatment as such, but it's reassuring that we all seem to be finding each other here and it seems to be a benign inconvenience.

Another Raynaud's sufferer here. Interestingly, though I have suffered with very cold hands and feet for some time, my most recently popped and bruised finger turned that bloodless, ultra-white including white nail, which I have seen in pictures of severe Raynaud's cases, a couple of days after the trauma, when I was washing my hands. As my other fingers looked normal I found this very scary, and thought it might be a clot from the bruising. The blood flow returned after I had rubbed it (felt ice cold and dead) and put it under the hot tap! I have also started getting chilblains on fingers and toes in the winter.

For the record I am 49, female, quite thin, fit, always had low blood pressure, irregular heart beat (pacs), classic migraine sufferer - visual symptoms but rarely pain, and my popped vessels typically occur when carrying shopping bags and using vacuum cleaner. More likely when hands are cold, though it wasn't always this way. My most recent burst never really healed and has just become bruised again.

I hate to say it but I will be surprised if anyone ever does get an answer!  Well, if it happens to a doctor or someone in their family, perhaps. Then again, wil they bother to share the info?  Most of them think we are all a bunch of hypochondriatic kooks!

I'm glad I found this web posting tonight!  Just had an incident an hour ago where I felt a sting in my finger, blue spot, and now the whole pad of my right pointer finger is purple, tight and hurts.  I was worried "do I need to call a doctor?"  but now not so much.  I'm thin, 45 yrs. old, eat extrememly well, take lots of vitamins and work out 5x week.  Low blood pressure.  It seems like that is similar to many on this forum.  I'll be curious to see when someone gets an answer!

I've posted a few times over the past few years and, in August 2011, added a post about my dermatologist's comment that 500 MG of Vitamin C is great for maintenance, but that I should take 2000 MG per day to build up vein walls, which might help with this finger vein popping problem.  I'm posting today to note that I have been taking 2000 MG of Vitamin C a day (Ester C) for about 6 months, and I've had noticeably fewer problems with my fingers.

I am also looking for answers, I have had this before, thought it was a pinched artery from a cervical rib in my neck.  Went to the vascular surgeon, he took out the rib.  Artery never got better, it "dried up".  Then my right hand, same side the rib was taken out started turning black again.  Went back, did a test, which the wrist then turned black, said the artery was totally occluded and was puzzled but said, "if it's not bothering you then leave it alone".  HUH?  Well, just yesterday, Feb 8, my middle finger on LEFT hand "popped" while I was drying my hands!  So, it can't be the artery.  I had been fine for a couple of years, now this!  Does anyone ever answer these questions?
