I'm 61. Have had burst blood vessels/veins in fingers on occasion for last 10 years or so, usually when I grip something tightly.  Feels like a bee sting, then a dark blue/purpleish bruise forms.

I am hypo-thyroid, have high blood pressure (it's normal with medication), have mild vitiligo, and had polymyalgia rheumatica back in '05 - thank goodness that's gone.  I am an active person & feel great most days.

I bought a bare root rose yesterday and while moving it from the car was pricked by a thorn on the inside of my forearm.  Just a few drops of blood on the outside of my arm but was surprised to see a large knot of blood forming under the skin.  My husband applied a pressure bandage and I kept the arm above my heart and it seemed to stop bleeding within a short while.  Today I have an ugly 7 inch bruise from the bleed.  The area is still a bit sore but the "knot of blood" is gone. No sign of infection.

This freaked me out a bit!  I'm glad I found this forum though - I'll eat more citrus for vitamin C and look into grapeseed extract.

Right, Infectious mono...well i am your age so your outlook seems good to me...If you have no other symptoms I would bet you won't get any.  I understand the need to solve an annoying mystery.  One thing is for sure--the doctors aren't too helpful.  Perhaps when one of them or their spouses or children suffer from this they will get more involved.  Best wishes to you.

I am aged 50 (but in denial, hence the exercise regime). No Epstein Barr Virus.  No Chronic Fatigue. I am guessing mono is Pfeiffer's disease? if so then, no to that one too. Like I said the only commonality with the other postings appears to be the actual condition.

Agreed the Vit C supplement is not ideal but it is additional to a healthy diet of fruit and veg. After reading all the postings, I too noticed there to be a lack of male posters, well this is a female health forum after all and maybe the popping does not occur in your average man in the street.

I also agree, that although the popping events are uncomfortable, there does not appear to be any obvious major health issues. But it would be comforting to identify possible triggers.

I found in my research that asorbic acid vit c is ineffective compared to foodform vit c which you can get from wellness support 888.580.9390  or www.realfoodnutrients.com

I can't remember why but they can tell you if you want to research it further.  How old are you?  No Epstein Barr Virus?  No Mono?  No Chronic Fatigue?  I think you are only one of two males that posted here.

This is crazy, isn't it?  The one thing I DO believe and it's just my opinion from reading all these posts and other research---is that it doesn't seem to be a major health concern like impending stroke or aneurism (as I am certain we have all worried about.)  It seems to be more of an annoyance than a health ristk since many of these women have had it for years and years.

If you are young (20's or 30's) maybe you should test for Epstein Barr, God forbid that you will develop more problems like most of the rest of us.

I have had 'popping veins' on the palm side of my hands (maily around finger joints) for years and decided to google the issue after a single recent event. For the record I am a very fit and healthy male and have exercised daily for most of my life. I have no detremental social habits (smoking  and excessive drinking etc) and can think of no exotic condition which I can remotely link to the issue. No circulatory issue, normal blood pressure, stable body weight, normal BMI etc, etc
I cannot think of any recurrent cause to link each event. In fact the only link I appear to have with the majority of fellow 'popping' posters is the actual event. As an added point my long term healthy diet includes a daily supplementary fish oil (4000mg) and Vit C (1000mg). So it looks like I am on the extreme range of the distribution curve for this issue.

I had similar fainting symptoms. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. An acupuncturist suggested it was too much yeast in the digestive track. A nutritionist convinced me that I should eliminate all yeast products as well as anything that makes yeast grow (sugar, fermented foods etc.). It wasn't easy but when the elimination diet was followed, I felt like myself after 8 years of illness.
Ninety percent of the time, I refrain from the "White Diet". I no longer have Fainting Spells, Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
You can reintroduce yourself to yeast products if your body allows it, but remember that an overabundance creates toxins in your body. If you revert to your prior ways, you will experience symptoms. I "cheat" once and awhile and have symptoms. The latest is the blood vessel popping (not sure if these symptoms relate to the "White Diet"). Peace & Good Health.
