whats the best method for vaginal irritation either in it or on it

Hi my name is Mel,
My question is what to do when you've had the itchiness either inside or outside of your vagina since the age of 2 and you cannot do anything to relive it, and you just liturally have to mastubate yourself to kind of relieave the itch which does not always work. I have mentioned it to my doctor but he hasn't been as yet been able to help and I am not having any periods they just up and left on me and the itchiness is just unbearable especially when u have to sit long periods at a time. going to the loo is hurting as it is itching and I can't itch it until after I have gone I am uncomfortable. please help.

I have been suffering from vaginal irritation for the past 10yrs. My symptoms are: unbearable vaginal itching with fissures and sores around my vagina, perineum & anal area. In the past I have seen a doctor, naturopath and a gynecologist. Nobody ever came up with any diagnosis. During my recent PAP smear I got my GP to take a look. He thought it could be Lichen Sclerosis or Lichen Simplex, so referred me to a dermatologist. She took a swab and a biopsy which shows that I have Psoriasis. She prescribed a cortisone cream and an aqueous cream which had to be made up by a compounding pharmacist. I started using the cortisone cream last Sunday and already the itching has stopped and there is no sign of any of the painful fissures. This is the first time in years that I am not experiencing any pain or discomfort down there.
I urge you to seek help from a dermatologist who is an expert in skin disorders. I saw a female who was lovely and very understanding and sympathetic to my problem. I can sympathize with you as I know how uncomfortable this condition is. I hope you find a solution like I have.

You can try a warm bath with witch hazel and salt in it. You can soak a cloth with witch hazel and put it on your vagina and surrounding vulva. Topical itch creams can help relieve itching. Also topical freezing creams like Lidodan can really help give you some relief especially at night. I have never heard of itching so badly...i think tests from your doctor would be helpful to see if you have BV or something more serious....good luck to you, i hope it stops
