will I die first

I knew no other place to turn. I have a huge fibroid tumor in which the doctor said he believes is causing my 2 disc to bulge in my back, but when i was referred to ob gyn doc they wont perform surgery because i have hepatitis c and my number is lilke 30 million.she said it is too dangerous for me and they that i will have to go through treatment to get my numbers now.how is it dangerous for me or are they just scared that they will catch it. I have been up front about it all along but the treatments are high 565 for first injection.

Thanks so much for the comments.I was approved for a med assist program that pays 75% of my hospital bill till sept, in which i was just approved in  june. I go to see the hep doctor on the 25th of august. So I will know more then.I went through all this last year but when it was time to start the injections and i found out the cost i just couldnt afford it.well since then my back issue has gotten worse and when i went back to the doctor back in may they looked at my mri from feb and said they believe the tumor is causing the disk to bulge. They could actually see the fibroid on the mri, last year it was the size of a 20 week pregnancy and has grown more. Thanks for your comments. My husband doesnt ever want to talk about it with me, doesnt realize the seriousness of it.Doesnt realize how much it hurts me to do normal things.

I'm big on second opinions, and it's worth getting one.  But keep in mind that you have to be well enough to endure the sugery, and this is their main concern.  It could endanger your life for them to attempt to remove the tumor while your numbers are so high.  They know how to deal with Hep C, so don't worry about that, but it's a serious condition in itself, and the healthier you are prior to surgery, the better. I wouldn't get a referral for your second opinion.  Doctors tend to refer you to friends, rather than someone they feel may be more competent.  Seek out your own second opinion.

Could be you are too sick to undergo surgery, and thus they want to treat your hepatitis C for a while to get your numbers down first.  I do not think the ob-gyn is afraid of contracting hepatitis C.  As long as the tumor is not life-threatening at the moment and can wait to be removed, I think getting some interferon shots may apparently improve your surgical risk picture.

But I think you should get a second opinion!  I'm with you, if I had a tumor, I'd want it outta there forthwith, and no time-consuming expensive pre-op stuff would stand in my way, either, especially if I was broke.  A tumor can be taken out by pretty much any surgeon, so try to get a consult with maybe a gastro surgeon about removing your tumor, and see what he says about your hepatitis numbers being so high in relation to going ahead with the tumor surgery.  You are entitled to have a second opinion, so ask for that referral from your doctor before proceeding with the shots.
