Feeling lumps beneath the anal lining

HI, i finally got over my anal fears after my sigmoidoscopy, but a few weeks later i got worried again and thought i would check, so here is what i did and what i am worried about, I lay on my right side with my left leg raised, i inserted my finger into my rectum fully, then i pushed my finger to the left, towards my groin area, then pressed down feeling through the lining into the muscular parts beneath, i felt a tiny Blade like structure, only about 1cm in length, running horizontaly towards the inner sphincter muscle, it felt Kind of Finn like and i could move the side of my finger back and forth over it and it would flip from side to side, it was very hard to reach but i think i managed to follow along it and it feels like it runs upwards into the inner sphincter muscle. Does this sound like normal anatomy. I would only like this answered by someone with medical knowledge please, i know i have gone into detail quite a bit but i wanted to get it clear, no mickey takers please.

Hi, i have a bit more information, i have found two of these bands, they feel like muscle, i think they are either the puborectalis muscles or the tendonius arch of levator ani, if i lie on my right side the muscle feels like a lump of fatty tissue, but if i bear down/ strain as if gong to the toilet, the muscle stretches out into a straight line which starts just by the rectum and goes across and joins just next to the prostate, it is the same on both sides, the only thing that worries me is that the one on the left is like a straight edge to it but the one on the right has more of a flappy edge to it.

Hi, sometimes in transrectal examination the appendix can be palpable. You could have felt that or it could be a bowel loop. But its best you get evaluated by your primary care physician. He will know what to look for if you are symptomatic. Regards.
