Good morning... Golly, I can't believe another week has passed by. It's still dark outside, but it looks like it's shaping up to be a gorgeous day - I think somewhere in the 80's. I do sympathize with those of you still dealing with snow and ice storms, along with the freezing weather. We've been smelling the orange blossoms and debating whether spring is here - at this point, we hope so, as any trees that are leafing out, or blooming, now (particularly citrus) will be damaged if we get a cold snap.
Anyway, it's been quiet in my world, for a change. I've been working in my shop, off and on, on refinishing a cedar chest I've had for a number of years. I got it from a neighbor who was moving away. She got it from an aunt who had tried to refinish it and messed it up. She tried to "fix" the finish, but messed it up some more. The only real fix was to strip it and start over. In the process of doing that, I damaged some of the veneer, so that leaves removing the veneer and figuring out where to go from there. The veneer came off the ends quite easily, but then I got side-tracked to other projects and the cedar chest got pushed into a corner of my shop and has been sitting there for a couple of years. I finally decided I need the space, so my husband helped me pull it out of the corner and I went back to work on it with the idea that it will sit in the middle of the floor until the refinish job is complete!!
Although I do have enough room to walk around the cedar chest in the shop, there's only enough room to do small, minor things at any of the work benches in my shop, so refusing to move it until it's completed is incentive to get if done so I can get it out of the way and move on... Yesterday, I finished removing the veneer from the top and my husband helped flip the chest to its side so I can start on the front. Hopefully, I'll have time to work on that over the next few days so I can start doing finish sanding, then comes applying the final finish and finally moving the chest into the house and being able to use it.
I've been looking for a pattern for a hanging quilt rack, but couldn't find what I wanted so I decided to design my own. I got that done, only to realized I don't have enough of any one kind of wood to make it from, so we'll have to make a trip to the wood shop to get some. We might be able to do that one day next week; we'll have to see what the week brings.
I also have to get another pen made for a friend's birthday gift. The birthday isn't until March 6, but that's the day of the first procedure on my legs and I'm not sure how those are going to go, so I want to have things organized before I start on them.
Anyway, weight-wise, I'm not doing so well... I'm down by a whopping 0.2 lbs - whoopy!! I've not a clue what's going on. My diet has been reasonable, though not great. I've actually lost weight on my current diet in the past, so there's something going on; it's just a matter of figuring out what it is. I have been craving sugar lately, which is never a good thing, although I've been trying not to give in to the cravings.
My exercise has been good - I walk with my neighbor nearly every day - unless one of us has something going on that prevents us from going on the walk. Our walk is approximately 1.5-2 miles long. Many days, I'll go back out in the evening and go for another walk in the evening. This is in addition to the other things I do during the day, such as housework, yardwork, work in my shop, etc that all include movement, lifting, etc, so it's not like I'm not doing anything other than the walk or doing the same things every day.
I am still struggling with the frozen shoulder on the left side, so doing any type of weight lifting, etc is pretty much out of the question for right now. I did get my DVD player set up again so I can start doing my yoga again, but some of those poses, too, are more than my shoulder can handle right now. I'll do the best I can with it though. It took about 18 months for the right shoulder to thaw, so I should have another 10 months or so before the left one starts getting better, although I keep working at it.
Anyway, that's where I am. How about y'all?
~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~
