To redhededivy.  Just came across this site and will be joining.  I have had significant pain in my feet for a number of years; and do have liver disease.  I did not connect the two early on.  My issues are not plantar fasciitis which definitely is uncomfortable - I have had it but only temporarily, years ago.  My pain is in the ball of my feet and through my toes and sides of my feet.  The issues in the sides of my feet may be the result of compensation as to how I walked as the other got worse.  I have tried several podiatrists, injection treatments, and MLS laser treatments.  Each met with some gentle improvement but not a lot.  I recently tried acupuncture and that has been met with some positive benefits including reduced swelling.  There is also an over-the-counter topical general treatment (feet, back, shoulders) that is a roll-on with 4% lidocaine .... I use the Salonpas brand.  It helps me sometimes - typically I apply in the evening and at bedtime as sleeplessness is never helpful!  As I understand it, anti-inflammatories may be helpful but harmful with fluid retention.  I hope that you find improvement for the sake of being able to be active, get better rest, have less pain and manage one of the issues we face.

Ok I looked up your previous posts and see you are diagnosed with cirrhosis.

Foot pain is a very vague symptom and there could’ve dozens of causes. The only way to treat your pain is to first know the cause and in order to know the cause you really should see your doctor.

Really since you have liver cirrhosis you really need to be under the care of a doctor. Can you qualify for any kind of medical aid insurance?

Your memory issues could possibly be hepatic encephalopathy a serious complication of liver cirrhosis. You really need to see a liver specialist to receive proper care.

Hi yes i was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis few months ago.  Before that i had fatty liver for mote than a decade.

Just after i was diagnosed with LC my feet really got very swollen ( they have improved) had alot of pain (now less pain) had problem walking and with the stairs (still have) My 80 year old mom walks better than me :(

Up to now i still have changed alot over the past few months.  Sometimes i feel i will collapse ( but i have not).  The morning and when i stand up are the worst time.

I have visted a few doctors they all say i am okay (after running tests) Do not know why my feet are not responding as they should.

My next visit is an orthopedic and a gastro with more knowledge in liver problem (my gastro is not good)  For now my biggest concern is my walking disability.

Regarding the insurance... i still work... they have noticed me struggling with my feet.... noticed my swollen feet.  So i have insurance for right now.

Thank you for answering my ad any suggestion please let me know.  I am new with these medical problems.

Thank you!

Lower leg and foot welling is a common symptom of liver cirrhosis. This is why you were prescribed a diuretic.

I have had cirrhosis fort over 11 years. I developed edema in 2008 but have never had foot pain.

There is also a foot problem called plantar fasciitis  which causes foot pain for many although I have no idea if this is your problem only a doctor can diagnose the cause of your foot pain.

Hi you have asked your question about foot pain in the cirrhosis of the liver community forum.

Do you have cirrhosis of the liver? What were you diagnosed with two years ago? What treatment did you start at that time?

My doctor prescribed me with hydrocholorothiazide 25 mg for the inflamation or water retention.  Plus i am using compresion soxs.  All this helps with inflamation not with the pain.  I am trying to eat more healthy, more salads & meat, will go to physical therapy just trying to improve. Lets see.
