Doxy and gonorrhea question
I apologize for bothering you but I have a bit of a dilemma and am very scared. I had unprotected oral sex with a man of unknown sexual history for the first time yesterday (I am male and had prior to this only been with cisgender women). It was mutual and lasted a while. It was only oral sex both ways which I know is relatively low risk from what I have read in your excellent answers, but I am concerned about both penile and oral gonorrhea.
The day I met the guy at a bar I had gotten a prescription for doxycycline for a sinus infection, but did not take the first one until later that night as the doctor said it should be one in morning and one at night. It is a 14 day regimen of doxycycline. I read in prior posts that normally 7 days of doxycycline is not enough without an injection of another antibiotic, but I was wondering if 14 days would be enough to prevent/treat a ghonorrhea infection? Also, I know symptoms usually show up within a week, but would the doxy delay symptoms? Thank you for any help you can give. I am terrified and will see the person I am dating two weeks from today.

The doxy may stop the gono from "taking hold" it will not be enough to treat the infection alone without the shot.
However, experts suggest that a single episode of oral sex (regardless if you give it and received it) is not enough to warrant testing as the odds are quite low. A sexual health nurse I work with tells his patients that oral sex is like a gay hands handshake. Im not suggesting you're gay, it just shows how common it is.
You can test for gono from the 2 week mark but personally unless you develop symptoms there is really no need. In the UK we do postal kits which are free - if you are that concerned see if your area or country does that.
Summary - if no symptoms show after 4 or 5 days I would move on from this completely and try not to let anxiety beat you.

Thank you! I am grateful for the detailed and timely answer! My only follow up question is whether the doxycycline for the sinus infection would expand the 4-5 day symptom window after which I should not be concerned?
Realistically it is unlikely
The doxy might affect the testing window, though, should you decide to test. I don't think you need to test - I'm with Gaz on that it really doesn't warrant testing, but if you decide to test, wait a couple of weeks after you finish the doxy.
